for the people of des moines

We are building a garden in the middle of a parking lot.

A church being planted in the rhythm of the ancient Way — gathered around Word, Table, and one another. Inspired by Psalm 27.

our three movements

The shape of life we are learning together.

I

Seek His Face

We gather to behold the One who is beautiful — through word, sacrament, song, and silence. Worship is not a warm-up. It is the whole point.

II

Form Disciples

We are being made into the kind of people who can carry the love of Christ — slowly, sacramentally, in covenant with one another.

III

Extend His Kingdom

We tend a garden in the middle of a parking lot — small, faithful work that makes room for resurrection in our neighborhoods.

Des Moines, Iowa. A city like any other — and a city like no other.

a liturgy you can come home to

Sundays at 1927 are 90 minutes of gathered worship in the historic shape of the Church.

Confession, scripture, song, sermon, and the bread and cup, shared regularly — beginning September 27 at Franklin Events Center. Until then, follow the journey on The Road to 9/27.

chapters

The smaller rooms where we become.

Chapters are covenantal communities of six to ten — modeled on the class meetings John Wesley left behind. They meet weekly, eat together, pray together, and tell the truth about their lives.

Tuesdays · 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.

Cam & Sarah's Chapter

The founding Chapter of 1927. A weekly table of friends learning what it means to live in step with the Spirit. Open to new members through the summer.

A second Chapter

More Chapters will open as 1927 grows. We will not scale faster than we can pastor.

Psalm 27:4

One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life.
