give · the economics of gratitude

Giving is an act of gratitude.

At 1927, generosity is not a transaction or a fundraising goal. It is a cruciform practice — one of the ways we learn to live the life of the Kingdom inside the rhythms of our weeks.

Every dollar given to 1927 is an offering of thanks for what has already been given to us in Christ.

1927 is marked by cruciform practices that counter the liturgies of consumption, hoarding, and greed that characterize so much of our culture. We are learning a different way of holding our money — one that is open-handed, intentional, and shaped by the cross.

Generosity is not how we earn favor with God. It is how we are formed by the God who has been generous with us. When we give, we are not adding to a transaction — we are participating in the Kingdom economics of grace.

If you call 1927 home, we invite you into the rhythm of regular, prayerful giving. If you are visiting or new — please do not give. Just come. Watch. Be loved. The invitation to give will still be here when you are ready.

a word for the watchers

You don't have to give to belong.

If you are sitting in the back wondering whether you can be part of this — yes. Without giving a dollar. Without signing anything. Without explaining yourself. Giving comes later, when it comes from somewhere true.

Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.2 Corinthians 9:7
